Staffordshire County Council, working in partnership with FCC Environment who operate Household Waste Recycling Centres, wanted to run a social awareness communications campaign that highlighted the opportunity that allowed the public to bring used electrical and electronic goods to any HWRC in Staffordshire.
In response to the brief, we conceived 'SCRAP', a brand concept promoting a team of caring SCRAP specialists that love nothing more than seeing an old, uncared for electrical appliance, given the chance to find a better future.
Utilising various forms of both offline, and online media, we created a story that could transcend the usual marketing strategies implemented within the council. We created a regional reach of just under 250,000 people with limited budget, which dramatically increased the sales figures from the re-use shops, resulting in many more electrical appliances finding a brighter future.
